FACT:
A frequency domain circuit analysis
program should be one of the first programs in your
CAD tool box. With our easy to use package you can quickly
compute stability, gain/loss, VSWR, bandwidth, etc. on a wide
variety of passive and active circuits. It has a built-in File
Utility and a handy tweak mode that lets
you try different component values on the fly.
QUESTION:
Why isn't our Sceptre
program in your tool box? At only $29.50 its hard
to beat! All prices are in USD,
and for a
single-user license.
EXAMPLE:
Here is the equivalent
AC circuit of a 100-1500 MHz amplifier designed by Ken Wyatt of
Hewlett-Packard Co. Ken designed it using our MicroWorks
Design Package. His in-depth review of our Sceptre
program, and others in the MicroWorks
package, entitled "Wideband design proves abilities of low-cost CAD,"
can be found in the November 1988 issue of Microwaves
& RF magazine. To show you how easy
Sceptre
is to use, we've listed the circuit file down below the amplifier
schematic, and then followed that with an analysis of the circuits
performance.
Ken has used emitter and
collector-to-base feedback to make the stability factor greater
than one, to flatten gain, and improve
VSWR. His design article shows how to calculate all
the component values.
OUTPUT
TABULATION:
Here
is an analysis of the amplifier by Sceptre. We have
used the "S1" print option for overall network
s-data and stability information. If the circuit were unstable,
the "S2" option would give us the location of
stability circles on the in/out plane. Also, by using the "IR"
or "OR" options, we could see
the input (or output) reflection coefficient, VSWR, R.L. (dB), and Z
(R+jX) ohms.
EASE OF USE:
This
program is menu driven and very
simple to use. The User Manual is clearly written, (you can READ IT
on-line), and tutorial in nature. It introduces the User to analysis in
the frequency domain by using every day circuit examples. Sceptre
can also write .IMP files for use by our SmithMatch
match network design program!
MATERIAL
INCLUDED:
The program, and its support files,
can be downloaded, by you, direct from our server. The User Manual for
Sceptre is available on-line.
You can view it or print it out
at your leisure. By having an on-line manual,
you're assured that you will get any typo error
corrections or tips instantly! Your manual will never
be "out of date." You may view the User Manual for Sceptre
