SCREEN UTILITY
Introduction
The
Screen Utility helps you to determine
AR,
the aspect ratio, for your monitor. This will enable you to create a
decent looking Smith Chart.
How to determine AR, the display "Aspect Ratio"
When you choose "
(4) Screen Utility" from the
Main
Menu, either by pressing "
4," or by using
the "
F4" function key, you'll enter the
Screen
Utility. What you will
see depends on the
choice you made when you ran the
Startup Utility.
For example, if you selected "
6," for a
Windows display, the screen display
should
look as follows:
The circle on the screen was made using the
nominal
AR for a Windows display,
which, in this instance, is 0.75.
If the circle you see on your screen is
ovalled,
carefully
measure the width, (the x value), and height, (the y value), of the
"circle" on your screen. For best results, assuming you have a flat
screen monitor, use a dial caliper, or a
good
ruler.
If x > y, then calculate your aspect ratio as y/x. Or, if the
opposite, AR, the aspect ration, equals x/y. Use this information to
create a decent circle using the
SmithPlot Utility.
