STARTUP UTILITY
Introduction
The
Startup Utility lets you specify the graphics
resolution of your system. The value you choose will be saved and will
appear in the
System File listing.
Graphics Card / Display
When you choose "
(5) Startup Utility" from the
Main
Menu, either by pressing "
5," or by using
the "
F5" function key, you'll enter the
Startup
Utility.
After a brief message stating that a SYSTEM FILE will be created for
you, you'll be asked to pick a
screen
display. In Windows, there is
one choice. The program works well with 800 X 600
to 1024 X 768 monitor display
settings.
Please enter the number corresponding to your graphic / display choice, (6),
and press
<Enter>.
After you specify the type of display, the
SmithPlot
Utility will
automatically run. Press
<Enter>
to select the default value of chart aspect ratio. A Smith Chart will
then be
drawn using the default value. If the chart
is badly ovalled, in either the x or y direction, choose "
N"
(for NO), and press
<Enter> when
asked if you want to "
Save"
the chart. You will then get to try again. This time, look at the top
of the screen, you'll be told what the range of aspect ratio adjustment
is, along with the nominal default value. Choose a number a
little
lower, (or higher), than nominal, and draw a new chart. Press
<Enter>
after typing in the AR (aspect ratio) value. It should be possible to
create a circular Smith Chart with one of the two monitor display settings mentioned above. When you've arrived at a compromise,
follow the on-screen directions to "
Save the Chart."
